FAQ’s
These questions were actual questions asked by family members. The answers may
help you better understand our services.
Why should I use your company if my vet already has a provider?
All of us are concerned about our pet’s health and safety while with us and we
are just as concerned about the safe and humane disposition of our animal friend
after it’s passing. Ask your vet…if you can see his provider’s crematorium to
make sure it is clean and organized, or if you can actually place your pet in
his provider’s crematory yourself and witness the process. Ask your vet… if you
can transport your pet directly to (and meet/and talk to) the exact person that
will be handling the cremation of your animal companion. Ask your vet…if you
can exam the machine prior to the cremation cycle just to make sure (for yourself)
that there are no other remains left inside the machine from a prior cremation. At Ashfield Pet Crematory the answer to all of these questions is YES. Aren’t
knowing the answers to these questions worth peace of mind, even if you don‘t
wish to view the crematory?
What if I don’t want the ashes back, but want the assurance that my animal friend
was taken care of properly?
We offer this service, also known as Group Cremation, to the public as well as
to Veterinarian hospitals and clinics. Group cremation is where several animal
remains are place into the crematory together. At Ashfield Pet Crematory we
gather up all of these ashes, package them, and the ashes are donated to one of
several individuals that have contacted us requesting this material to be spread
on their farm property, herb gardens, or flower beds.
Our animal companion is sick and while we don’t know the outcome and don’t wish to commit
to your service now, can we still visit your crematory?
You are always welcome to visit (by appointment) and discuss our cremation services. Please note that our company policy is: The building is closed during a Private
Cremation . The people that are allowed in the building during that 2-3 hour
time period are the family members, and those invited by the family. Please call
in advance for an appointment.
I understand that you cremate pets, but my pet is a very large goat. Can I still
receive the same service?
The answer is YES for most animals brought to us. The weight limit on our machine
for a single charge is 500 lbs, but that doesn’t mean that every animal (up to
that weight) can fit. Please call or email with questions.
Victor has cancer and the Vet said that he will pass very soon. At the last
hospital visit he weighed 102 lbs. How much would it cost for a private cremation
with your company?
The cost for the Private Cremation Service is $100 plus $1.75 per pound of weight. In this case: $278.50. Additional transportation charges may apply if you request
a pick up outside of our regular route. It is best to phone for an exact quote
at the time of death.
How can I be sure that the ashes I get back are the ashes of my loved one?
The Crematorium is cleaned and only your animal is placed inside. The remains
at the end of the cremation cycle belong only to that animal. When you hire
Ashfield Pet Crematory this should never be your concern. It is difficult enough
to deal with the loss without having to think about issues like this. Please
read the letters in our Testimonial Section from people that have used our services.
I am considering cremation for my dog. Can I visit your facility and see the machine operate during a private cremation?
I am sorry but that is not possible. During the 2-3 hour time period for a Private
Cremation the building is closed and off limits to everyone whether the family
members are present or not. This policy is for the comfort of the family and
the privacy of the animal being cremated. We have several scheduled Group Cremations
during the month and you can visit during one of these on an appointment basis.
